B.E.T. T.E.R., which stands for Bringing Enhancement Through Training for the Empowerment of Rotaractors, is a flagship project of the Rotaract Club of Makati under the Professional Development Service.
The Rotaract Club of Makati successfully launched the first session of its mini-BETTER Series, titled BETTER: Web Developer, at MRCFI in Makati City on July 05, 2026. The interactive workshop introduced members to the exciting possibilities of artificial intelligence (AI) in web development, equipping participants with practical digital skills that are increasingly valuable in today’s technology-driven world.
The session was facilitated by Rotaractor Lance Balungcas, who guided participants through the fundamentals of website development and demonstrated how AI can simplify the web design process. Members learned the basic anatomy of a website, including the distinction between the frontend—the user interface (UI) that visitors see and interact with—and the backend, the invisible infrastructure composed of servers, databases, and APIs that powers a website behind the scenes. The discussion also emphasized the importance of websites in establishing an organization’s online presence, credibility, and visibility.
A key highlight of the workshop was the introduction to AI-powered “Vibe Coding,” an emerging approach that enables users to create websites through natural language prompts instead of traditional coding. Participants discovered how AI can translate simple English instructions into functional website designs, allowing them to focus on creativity, user experience, and aesthetics rather than complex programming syntax. The session also covered prompt engineering techniques, teaching participants how to craft effective prompts by clearly defining the AI’s role, project goals, desired visual style, and specific website requirements.
To reinforce the lessons, participants were paired and challenged to redesign the RAC Makati website using AI-assisted web development tools. Applying the concepts discussed during the workshop, each team created its own unique interpretation of the club’s online presence, showcasing creativity, collaboration, and innovation. Mark Gil Cato and Angelo Jadlocon emerged as the Best Design winners for their outstanding website concept, recognized for its functionality, visual appeal, and user-centered design.
The successful launch of the mini-BETTER Series reflects RAC Makati’s commitment to empowering its members with future-ready digital skills and fostering a culture of innovation. By embracing emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, the club continues to prepare young leaders to create meaningful and lasting impact in their communities.
